Work/Women's growth app, pre-launch to beta

87 to 424 followers and 3.4K profile visits in eight months, on under $900 of ads

She EmpowHers is an AI-guided growth platform for women. When I came in, the app was pre-launch, the waitlist was the product, and the Instagram account had 87 followers and a feed nobody could place. I built it a content system, a community routine, cheap paid amplification and a creator pipeline.

The challenge

A pre-launch app nobody could place

The founder's own brief in February 2026 was blunt about where the account stood. When I dug into the numbers, the real problem was more specific than reach.

Nobody could tell what it was

Podcast, motivation page, coaching or app? A woman landing on the profile couldn't say. The bio, "We're your new tech-bestie", gave her no clear what, who or next step.

It looked like every other empowerment account

130 posts, 87 followers, mostly polished quote cards: the most scrolled-past format on Instagram. No real women's stories, no conversation, and a strong founder story sitting unused behind a faceless brand.

The funnel was leaking

Reach wasn't the problem: 62.8% of views came from non-followers. But in the first 60 days we audited, 6,300 views turned into 216 profile visits, 14 link taps and 7 saves. In June, 916 profile visits produced zero bio link taps.

The approach

Built for conversion, not reach

Instagram had one job: move women from scrolling to waitlist signup, later beta signup. Every post, caption and CTA had to serve that, with results reported weekly so we could double down fast on what worked.

01

Reframed the diagnosis first

I rebuilt the 90-day plan around conversion instead of reach and set a weekly scorecard: saves, link taps, followers, DM conversations started, ads live. I also flagged an audience mismatch: the target personas were women around 30 to 38, but the biggest follower group was 45 to 54, at 41.3%. I gave the founder three options, pull younger, lean in or test both, and recommended testing both.

02

Built a content system that runs every week

Three pillars on a fixed Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday cadence: Behind the Build founder reels, The Problem, Named one-liners, and She Stories, real women's turning points. For Pillar 2 I wrote the Gap Map formula: name a belief she holds, reframe it, name the real problem underneath, connect it to She EmpowHers. An ideal customer profile, a Content Bible and 10 talking-head scripts meant the founder never filmed from a blank page, and a planner with an approval flow tracked 31 pieces.

03

Fixed the conversion points

I rewrote the bio within Instagram's 150-character limit so it says what the app is, who it's for and what to do next, with the founder picking the final version from three options. I gave specific copy fixes for the waitlist page, whose generic SaaS tone didn't match the emotional pull of the content. Then I set up comment-to-DM flows in ManyChat, "Comment BETA" and "Drop STORY", plus Story-reply automation and ice-breakers, so interest turned into a private conversation and a link.

04

Used paid as fuel, not a crutch

I only boosted posts that had already proven themselves organically, at $3 a day: six boosts and campaigns, $890.77 in total. The She Stories call bought 2,985 post engagements at $0.05 each. Post Boosts bought 2,050 profile and page visits at $0.11 each, and the "Built for women" reel bought 951 link clicks at $0.20 each.

05

Showed up where the audience already was

I built an Engagement Universe of 55 target accounts in Notion, from therapists and podcast hosts to women founders and faith and career voices, and ran a daily routine of specific, human comments on them, never marketing copy. I also ran a warm DM campaign to every follower: a genuine check-in first, a waitlist nudge only after she replied. Women going through a hard season got a helpful resource instead of a pitch.

06

Opened a creator and UGC channel

I sourced and contacted 28 women creators in mental health, career and personal growth, and launched an influencer UGC campaign in October 2026. One paid creator reel pulled 234 interactions and 105 comments on its own, more interactions than any full week of brand posts. I then turned the best commenters into DMs and She Stories leads.

07

Reported every week

A weekly tracker every Tuesday covered content, audience, ads, profile traffic, creator outreach and blockers, with monthly performance reports for the founder on top. Decisions came from numbers, not vibes.

The takeaway

What this means for your brand

01

Real women beat brand voice

She Stories and creator content consistently drove the most conversation. Brand-only posts got reach but far fewer comments, so the budget and effort are shifting towards creators and featured stories.

02

Reach isn't the same as growth

The first fix wasn't "post more". It was finding where interested women were dropping off and closing that gap.

03

Cheap, patient paid works

It works when the content is already proven. $3 a day on posts that had earned it beat bigger pushes on untested creative.
